Celtic Football Club is currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Groundsperson to join the Grounds team at Celtic Football Club.

 

Reporting directly to the Head Groundsman at Celtic Park, the role will support the Grounds team in ensuring the ongoing maintenance and quality improvement of Celtic Football Club’s football pitches and surrounding grounds across all locations.

 

Key accountabilities will include:

  • Working under the guidance of the Head Groundsperson and Deputy Head Groundspersons, you will be responsible for the day-to-day maintenance and upkeep of natural and synthetic pitches;
  • Ensure the stadium pitch and training pitches are prepared to a high standard including mowing, line marking, repairing any damage and all other aspects of pitch maintenance and preparation;
  • Ensure the maintenance surrounding areas of the stadium such as shrubs, trees, grassed areas, car parks and bankings;
  • To operate and maintain groundskeeping equipment and machinery including all types of mowers, strimmers,  sprayers & hedge cutters in a safe and efficient manner;
  • To work at any of Celtic Football Club’s locations including Celtic Park, Lennoxtown and Barrowfield;
  • To be able to carry out reasonable instructions as directed by the Grounds management team to the highest possible standard;
  • To be available on all match days & European nights; and
  • To be flexible in respect of working patterns due to the nature of the business, including working unsociable hours at times.

Skills and Experience required:

Essential:

  • Possession of at least a Level 2 qualification in Sports Turf Management or equivalent qualification;
  • At least 3 years’ experience working in groundskeeping or landscaping, preferably within a sports field environment;
  • Knowledge of turf management practices, irrigation systems and groundskeeping equipment;
  • Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem solving;
  • Willingness to work flexible hours including weekends and evenings as required; 
  • Ability to effectively integrate and work alongside colleagues across varying levels of seniority; and
  • Demonstrable experience in effectively building and fostering strong professional relationships.
