The Salary Survey Report – a key GMA membership benefit, which is also available to non-members, was carried out independently by Myriad Research (www.myriadresearch.co.uk) using a number of data sources for analysis.

The report provides a comprehensive review of the current economic context, with particular focus on pay projections, economic growth, and inflationary pressures. The report also outlines and analyses pay settlement and earnings trends for two of the main sectors that comprise the GMA membership for which data was available.

Data sources include: ONS Labour Market Statistics, CBI Economic Forecast, OBR Economic and Fiscal Outlook, the Committee for Golf Club Salary (CGCS) scales, National Joint Council for Local Government Services salary guidance, Annual Survey of Hours and Earnings, and National Minimum Wage and Living Wage recommendations. CIPD and XpertHR remuneration surveys were used to confirm actual pay settlements and market trends.

This research provides a robust evidential basis for the 2022 GMA salary band recommendations, in readiness for its January 2022 publication. The objectives for this year’s pay settlements are:
- Maintain a sustainable pay structure for grounds staff;
- Account for inflationary pressures that impact grounds staff; and
- Ensure grounds staff pay is in line with overall market trends.

A executive summary and the full report is available to members via the:
GMA Online Resource Library, the member benefits section within the members area of the GMA website, and the side link on the right of this page.

Non GMA members can obtain copies of the survey, costing £150.00 by emailing membership@thegma.org.uk or call 01908 312 511.
