BBC TV highlights GMA life member in mobility scooter con

A mobility scooter scam that conned Grounds Management Association (GMA) Life Member George Skirving out of a considerable amount of money will be revealed this month on national television.

Scheduled for broadcast at 9.15am on Friday October 23, BBC 1’s Rip Off Britain programme - the series that exposes Britain’s rip offs and helps consumers – will highlight George’s plight in paying a hefty deposit for a new scooter which never materialised. Once the ‘company’ received the cash, it promptly ‘disappeared’ without trace.

George, whose key role in GMA activities in Scotland included helping to launch the Scotsturf exhibition, will explain the details of the con and footage will show him riding his current scooter which he emblazoned with an GMA logo.
