GMA Young Board joined breakfast briefing at Chelsea Flower Show

Representatives of the GMA's Young Board were invited to a breakfast event at Chelsea Flower Show last week.

The Royal Horticulture Society (RHS), in partnership with M&G, set up the event to celebrate and inspire young people in horticulture in recognition of the 2013  ‘Horticulture Matters’ report, which was launched to Government to highlight the skills shortages that the horticulture industry faces.

The event was hosted by garden designer and RHS ambassador Adam Frost and during the speaker sessions garden designer and co-founder of The London College of Garden Design, Andrew Fisher Tomlin, advised on how to use your personal characteristics towards developing a successful horticulturist career. Steve Dring from Growing Underground discussed the key attributes needed to set up a business in horticulture and Shelia Das, RHS Wisley garden manager, shared her top tips for successful horticulture interviews.

The GMA representatives included: GMA CEO Geoff Webb, Young Board chair Will Graves and four Young Board Support Group members – Elaine Harrison, Charlie Seager, Sean Towey and Mark Tavener.
