The Sports Grounds Safety Authority announces appointment of new chief executive


Karen joins on secondment from the Home Office on 13 July 2015. In her current role she leads a national litigation casework team delivering the Government’s immigration objectives. Karen is a civil servant with a broad range of experience delivering Government priorities in both policy and operational environments.

Prior to her role at the Home Office, Karen held a number of positions at the Department for Transport including implementing rail and ports policy and was private secretary to the Minister of State for Transport. She also worked with delivery partners to keep the transport network moving during the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Karen said “I am delighted to be joining the SGSA as Chief Executive. I am very much looking forward to working with the SGSA team, the Board and all its stakeholders to continue the excellent work the organisation does in helping ensure millions of people can enjoy going to sports grounds in safety.”
