Phil brings more than 30 years’ experience to this role. He entered the industry from school, joining Essex County Cricket Club on a youth training scheme, gaining a city and guilds qualification.
Most recently Phil was Head Groundsman at Essex County Cricket Club’s Billericay site. Phil has been the chair of the Essex Cricket Groundsman’s Association for 5 years, and has also been the ECB County Pitch Advisor for Essex for the past 10 years and for the past 2 years has worked part-time for Essex County FA on the Pitch Improvement Programme; during which time he was also delivering GMA training courses – Levels 1 and 2 Winter Pitches and Bowling.
