Formerly assistant groundsman at Leicester City FC (since 2008), Tom is accredited to NVQ Level 3 in Sports Turf Management and NVQ Level 2 in Amenity Horticulture. He also holds a Diploma in Amenity Horticulture as well as NPTC PA1 and PA6a certificates.

His five years at Leicester City FC have involved maintaining the five training pitches as well as the stadium’s Desso pitch. He is competent in operating all machinery and attachments safely in order to maintain the pitches and surrounding areas, and has knowledge of machine maintenance programmes. This includes: mowing – ride-on cylinders and rotary, manual cylinder and rotary mowers; fertilising – tractor-mounted and pedestrian, using and understanding different fertilisers, their benefits and when they are required; line marking, rolling, aeration, seeding, topdressing, turf doctoring, divoting, spraying (he holds PA1 and PA6a certificates), plus the maintenance of artificial playing surfaces.

Tom supports Leicester City and his passion outside of work is playing, listening and watching live music. He spent six years working for Leicestershire gardening businesses, which involved all aspects of garden maintenance and hard/soft landscaping.
