“I love the physical and team-based nature of the job. The time spent working outdoors also has a great impact on health, both physically and mentally.”

Liddy already had a background in agriculture before she joined the grounds management industry, also completing a BSc in sport and exercise science. She stumbled across her role when she saw the opportunity to combine her agricultural background with her education in sport and exercise science.

Now 26, Liddy is a Groundsperson at St. George’s Park, the Football Association’s base for all 23 of England’s national football teams, where she carries out regular pitch maintenance and manages training.

Driven by a desire to challenge herself and her love for the physical, team-based nature of her work and its outdoors environment, Liddy wants to use her role on the GMA’s NextGen to mix with all corners of the grounds management industry and make a positive change within it, from encouraging more young people, particularly women, to enter the sector.
